AI Sprite Generator Beta

Describe a character, get a game-ready sprite. We are rolling this out carefully — here is exactly what is and isn't promised, and a working demo of the finishing half of the pipeline today.

Beta scope — read before you rely on it

Promised: static single characters, still outfit variants and still direction variants, finished at 128px with a true pixel grid and a limited palette.

Not promised: animation frames or walk cycles (multi-frame consistency is a harder problem and is still being tested), native 32/64px sprites, and strict side/back views (current models lean to ¾ views). If a tool elsewhere promises you all of that from one prompt, ask to see the frames side by side.

Describe your character

Sample AI fox mage sprite, 128 pixels enlarged
Sample output — fox mage, generated once from a text prompt, then finished by the post-processing pipeline below. The variant on the home page was generated from this image as a reference.

Live demo: pixel post-processing

This is the finishing step every AI result goes through: nearest-neighbour sizing, palette quantisation with accent protection, and optional solid-background removal. It runs locally, like every other tool here.

How generation will work when it opens

  1. Your prompt (and reference image, for variants) is sent to an image model API — this is the one feature on the site that is not local, and the page will say so at the moment of generation.
  2. The raw result is an illustration, not a sprite. It is finished locally by the post-processing pipeline demoed above.
  3. Generation will be rate-limited per visitor per day, and only successful generations count against the limit.
